WHAT WE LIKE
If you’re the real fan of Consumer Reports, you should know the old version of this cookware, KitchenAid Gourmet Essential, as it received pretty good ratings for uncoated cookware category and extremely popular among users. It’s the really great cookware for everyday uses —good in heat evenly, acceptable quality, ease to use and clean up, right size, and value. KitchenAid Gourmet is made of 18/10 stainless-steel bottom with extremely thick aluminum disc base for better heat contribution. Oven-safe up to 400 degree F (and dishwasher safe) is somewhat an average level for heirloom gears, but still acceptable for normal cuisine. What we really love is the easy-to-grip silicon handles that truly stay cool (not only warm like some other gears) even when get high-heated cooking. The appearance of this improved version is better. Brushed steel outside make feel sleek and beautiful on every types of your stoves, includes glass induction. Above all, this set costs you around $200 - pretty value here. Talking about the design, this new edition makes more ergonomic hold. The curved edges of sauté skillet and straight edge for fry skillets are more practical. A big different is silicon rim around the glass lid which will tightly seal the lids while cooking. The size has a bit changed, adding a sauté pan. For more reviews, we’ve found very positive opinions from owners. The major topics came from its usable —practical uses, especially for amateur chefs, as it performed very well and had suitable size for best use in various cooks. The price is a big reason, too. In expert’s views, as we’ve said, the old version of this set did well in the Consumer Reports test in both cooking performance and durability. WHAT WE DON’T LIKE
This cook set is quite heavy from very thick base. Some reviewers said that one of the skillets doesn’t have a lid that fits it. Some claimed that it required some time to heat the pans as, but they were still acceptable for the evenly results. Also, food stick and discoloration are mostly found but can be solve by proper care and Barkeeper’s Friend. The Verdict
